Clothing care

A very effective way to be kind to both your own economy and the environment is to take care of the stuff you own. Especially when it comes to your clothes, good care can have a big impact on the lifespan of the garment. Here you'll find our wide range of different clothing care products, such as exclusive clothing brushes from reputable British maker Kent, cedar products that deter insects from your garments, all-natural moisture-absorbing bags, leather care products, and more.

The great thing about cedar wood products is not only that they scare away nasty pests like moths that gladly eat up the textile fibers, they also emit the very nice, natural scent of cedar that gives a pleasant feeling every time you open the wardrobe door. Also in the summer cottage, for example, where you have your textiles, these natural products can do wonders.

How do I save my clothes and textiles from vermin?

Pests like moths and fur beetles can cause dull holes and other damages to your clothes and textiles. An easy way to prevent this is with natural cedar wood products. Pests hate the smell of cedar, and will stay away if you have hangers, blocks or balls made of the material, or bags of cedar chips in your closet or wardrobe. Cedar also attracts a lot of moisture, especially the bags of cedar chips, which makes them perfect for use in the linen closet in the summer house, down in the basement where outdoor pillows are stored for the winter, or similar.

How do I keep my clothes clean?

It's good not to machine wash your clothes unnecessarily often, to spare both the garments themselves and the environment. Hang your clothes on a hanger and let them air outside, especially woollen garments will be as good as new after a while in the fresh air. It's also a good idea to regularly brush away surface dirt with a clothing brush, especially outerwear, wool garments and suits - not least since these are clothes that might otherwise require dry cleaning, in which case brushing and airing is much kinder to the garment and the environment. When you do need to machine wash garments, do so at the lowest possible washing temperature, and don't use more detergent than you need (most people overdose heavily on detergent, which makes it more expensive, worse for the environment while it doesn't get clothes cleaner). We recommend using the superb special detergents we have from the Swedish company Tangent GC when its suitable.

What are the benefits of cedar wood?

Red cedar has many amazing properties. It absorbs moisture well, it has a deodorising and antiseptic effect, it repels pests, it's both lightweight and durable, and more. A great advantage of cedar is that it is a wood that is abundant in the world, and where the harvesting that is done is almost exclusively of naturally grown forest. This is true for all the cedar we use, which comes from the USA. That makes red cedar good from an environmental point of view.
